Classes are held weekly, and are 1 hour in duration. Each class is followed by a period of free practice time where music is played continuously to help reinforce the moves learnt in class. We highly encourage students to take advantage of this time; it is a great opportunity to get a little private tuition, and we also offer La Rueda practice during this time.

Realistic Expectations

Some people feel that they cannot learn to dance because they are "uncoordinated" or lack confidence. We believe everyone can learn to dance, and that dancing will increase self-confidence and esteem. While we do not promise that you will leave the first class dancing like Elvis Presley, if you are prepared to be patient, we promise you will see results. It typically takes a beginner 6-8 months to become competant. We have seen many students make significant progress with patience over the many years of our teaching experience.

A little practice each day also makes a world of difference - students who progress the fastest are those who practice the basic steps and listen to music several times a week. Dancing is a form of communication and learning the language does take time and effort.

Having said that though, we would like to assure you that our classes are fun and addictive. While we strive to continually raise the dancing standard in Canberra through our quality teaching, we also strive to keep our classes humourous and relaxed. After all, dancing is meant to be enjoyble! Dancing is a wonderful relief for stress and depression, and students often say that they cannot dance and think about the stresses of life at the same time.
